Top Secret Aircraft 2022 - A photographer in California got this photograph of the jet a couple of weeks ago as it was flying near Edwards Air Force Base. Aviation Week, which reported on the existence of the jet, published this same shot and presumably used it to estimate the jet's altitude in the photograph as 20,000 feet.
This is all presuming that the plane in the shot is the new jet in question, which it might or might not be. Remember that the Air Force has only confirmed the existence of the program and no details, so it could well be another secret program.

According to Dr. Will Roper, assistant secretary of the Air Force for acquisition, technology and logistics, the US Air Force has "quietly built and flown a brand-new aircraft prototype" that could become its next-generation fighter, Oriana Pawlyk of Military.com reported.
Could the technology have progressed in secret to the point it could be carried by a fighter jet? Most of America's stealth fighters plan to open fire before the enemy is in visual range, but if the air battle devolves into a swirling dogfight, optical stealth would be very useful indeed.
Little is actually known about the TR-3B, if it even exists. Some say that the triangular supersonic stealth spy plane that was used during the Gulf War to provide laser designation for the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk attack aircraft.
In the late 1980s, the Air Force's "Have Slick" program envisioned stealthy weapons that attached to the underside of aircraft, allowing a stealth aircraft to carry weapons externally while remaining hidden from radar. Could the Air Force develop a similar system for carrying fuel?
Could a fuel-carrying NGAD drone accompany a crewed fighter on combat missions? Little is known about the jet, but the Air Force has just dropped a massive clue: concept art of a fighter jet being built under the NGAD program.
The image appears in the USAF's recently released biennial report for acquisition. Read the full report here. There have allegedly been multiple UFO sightings of the same triangular-shaped UFO in the skies over the Portland area on August 29. The black triangle UFO has lights on both wings.
The mysterious aircraft was allegedly spotted near the Portland Air National Guard Base (PANG) and the strange sighting was reported in the UK's Express and Russia's Sputnik. The Air Force's secret new fighter jet is just that: a total secret.
As such, the new technology focus on "survivability, lethality, and persistence" could include all of these possibilities ... or precisely none of them. We'll just have to wait and see. So what is it? The fact is, nobody outside of those with top secret clearances really knows, and with the diversity of opinion having tripled in recent days, all we can say is, we can't wait to find out, if indeed we ever do.
Todd ruled out a meteor since the American Meteor Society Fireball had not made any observations that day. The International Space Station was not visible at that time and there were no bright stars. The object was seen hovering in the sky for quite a while, which meant it was not a satellite or commercial airplane.
The report says of the program: “Next Generation Air Dominance is a family of capabilities that enable Air Superiority in the most challenging operational environments by enforcing the development pillars of digital engineering, agile software development, and open architectures.
By executing shorter technology development cycles, the program matures technology and reduces risk through prototyping and operational experimentation. Last September, USAF's top acquisition official, Will Roper, told Defense News: “We've already built and flown a full-scale flight demonstrator in the real world, and we broke records in doing it.
We are ready to go and build the next-generation aircraft in a way that has never happened before.” In March of 2014, a group of aviation enthusiasts spotted three triangle-shaped aircraft over Amarillo, Texas, that they called a “flying Dorito.”
They argue that the back of the aircraft was flat and not jagged like a B-2 Stealth Bomber. In February of 2014, an amateur photographer in Kansas also saw and took photos of a triangular aircraft.
"The program uses a non-traditional acquisition approach to avoid traditional monolithic program schedules and exorbitant life-cycle sustainment costs. This strategy, called the Digital Century Series approach, creates a realistic business case for industry to adopt commercial best practices for key design activities – before a part is even manufactured.”
This is the ability to hang around over the battlefield. What that boils down to is a fighter jet that can fly longer and farther than current fighters, and would be useful not only over the Asia-Pacific, but also Eastern Europe, the Baltics, and Eastern Russia.
Today's stealth fighters must carry weapons and fuel internally, as wing-mounted missiles, bombs, and drop tanks increase the plane's radar signature. The amount of fuel and weapons is limited by a plane's internal volume. YouTube conspiracy theorists Blake and Brett Cousins of thirdphaseofmoon shared a video of the alleged UFO, who claim they were sent video and photos of the unexplained UFO.
The UFO conspiracy theorists allege that the images are of the TR-3B, a long-rumored top-secret United States Air Force spy plane. The TR-3 Black Manta is allegedly a surveillance plane that is believed to have been developed for the USAF as part of a black project.
Many of today's fighters use a nose- or pod-mounted infrared sensor to detect enemy aircraft. An aircraft warmer than the surrounding air becomes detectable to such an infrared sensor, especially the hot gases blowing out the rear of the plane.
Infrared stealth would be very useful against weapons like the Russian R-73 infrared guided missile. "If it breaks even or is less [than traditional methods], I will be exceptionally happy. If it's more expensive — and I hope not exceptionally more — then we're going to have to argue" on behalf of the program.
During a roundtable with reporters, Roper declined to give specifics on the project, except that the craft was created using digital engineering, which allows the service to bypass the regular manufacturing process for parts and gives developers more flexibility to design and change blueprints, the report
said. Another possibility is an air-to-air laser capable of not only shooting down enemy fighters, but incoming missiles as well. A laser, powered by the fighter jet's engines, could theoretically fire unlimited shots in an engagement.
By comparison, the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter's GAU-12 25-millimeter gun holds only 200 rounds. Then there are others who claim that the top-secret aircraft utilizes anti-gravity technology to float in the air. There are conspiracy theorists who believe the military used reverse-engineering to create the TR-3B from an extraterrestrial aircraft that crash-landed to Earth.
One wildcard could be optical stealth, or the ability to essentially make NGAD aircraft invisible to the human eye. The U.S. military is known to have researched this technology, but it's not clear what progress, if any, it made.
Roper offered the revelation during the virtual 2020 Air, Space and Cyber conference, pointing out that the new aircraft is part of the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program, which defies a single platform, featuring a network of advanced sensors and weapons in a
growing and unpredictable threat environment. The secret new fighter jet must be able to shoot down enemy aircraft, particularly at long range. The Air Force is reportedly developing a new long-range, air-to-air missile, the AIM-260, to equip the F-35 and other jets.
The AIM-260 is designed to "out-stick" Russian and Chinese fighters, like the Sukhoi Su-57 "Felon" and Chengdu J-20, shooting them down before their American opponents come within range of their own missiles. While at the DoD, he filled positions as Major Command Liaison, Headquarters manager, and DoD factory representative for TAC, SAC, ATC, and PACAF following the Vietnam war.
Later in his career, as a manager of defense contractors, he dealt with classified "black" programs developing state-of-the-art Electronics, Avionics, and Automatic Test Equipment..He was considered an Air Force expert with classified electronics counter- measures test equipment, crypto-logical equipment owned by the National Security Agency, and Automatic Test Equipment.
He worked with many of the leading military aircraft and electronics manufacturers in the US. He claimed that a lot of the triangular UFOs sightings are actually sightings of a super secret USAF craft, called the 'black manta' (TR-3, of which two versions would exist, a TR-3A and a TR-3B, that look
completely different. They only use the same technology). "NGAD right now is designing, assembling, testing in the digital world — exploring things that would have cost time and money to wait for physical world results," he said.

The CRS report points out that many of the goals of NGAD are top-secret: For example, the autonomous Skyborg — which aims to pair artificial intelligence with a human piloting a fighter jet — is intended for reusable unmanned aerial vehicles in a manned-unmanned teaming mission;
the drones are considered "attritable," or cheap enough that they can be destroyed without significant cost. "Designed to complement the F-35, F-22, joint, and partner forces in the Air Superiority role, Next Generation Air Dominance is an advanced aircraft program for development of penetrating counter air platforms with multi-domain awareness, agile resilient communications,
and an integrated family of capabilities.
